We are located in beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego.  We are open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 4 PM.

Swedish Church Service
​Saturday, November 2

Please join us for a Swedish Church Service with our Seaman Pastor Manilla Okomdal Nordanstig at House of Sweden on November 2 at 10.30 a.m. 

 It will be a service in celebration of All Saints Day (Alla Helgons Dag) and we will be able to light candles for loved ones who have passed away.

Mikael Sandgren, cantor in the Swedish Church in San Pedro, and his wife Lola will be there providing beautiful music and singing.

Coffee and refreshments will be served on the patio after the service so please bring some baked goods to share.

Member Meeting and Potluck
Sunday, November 3

Come to our monthly get-together and potluck Sunday, October 6. We start our meeting around 4:30 at the House of Sweden, then have refreshments and wine, and end up with our famous potluck.  This is a great time to meet up with other members and find out the latest information on the House of Sweden.   We hope to see you there.

You can just come to the meeting and share a glass of wine or bring a potluck dish and also enjoy dinner with us.  

Craft Group 

The craft group meets at the cottage on the second
Saturday and fourth Tuesday every month from 11-4.  Everyone is welcome and you can drop by any time to see what they are doing.

The craft group will not be meeting in July of 2024.

Servers needed for Saturdays and Sundays

Now that the cottages are open again, we need our members to take turns serving the public on Saturdays and Sundays.

Swedish Lessons on the Web

​The Swenson Center offers four sequential courses designed for community members to learn the Swedish language, wherever they are in the world. Classes meet once per week via Zoom for 60 minutes over 6 weeks per course.  Students will learn skills in reading, writing, listening comprehension, and speaking.

“Secret Destination” Summer Bus Trip 2023
​
          We were 23 pensioners who departed from Upplands Väsby at 07.00  for an unknown destination. It’s exciting that so many dared to 
order a trip without knowing where we were headed. We drove along E-18 to Enköping where we picked up another 14 pensioners from Uppsala. The journey continued west. When the driver turned off at route 70, we guessed that Dalarna was our destination.
