Come for the Glögg... Stay for the Culture!
The House of Sweden is a group of people dedicated to preserving and educating the public about Swedish culture. It is part of a larger organization called the House of Pacific Relations. The House of Pacific Relations is made up of groups like the House of Sweden from nearly 30 other countries. Many of these countries have cottages where the groups meet and carry out the objectives of the organization. The cottages are arranged in a ring that encloses a courtyard and stage where performances are held on Sundays at 2pm in the spring and summer. For a complete listing of our events and performances, please visit our Events page.
Hej. Kom in.
The House of Sweden is a true gem. Recently remodeled with inspiration from Carl Larsson, the cottage is spacious, beautiful, and charming. Our members have heart, friendship, culture appreciation, and secret recipes for meatball gravy and Glögg that will knock-your-socks-off.
Our objectives are few.
Two to be exact. We promote Swedish social and educational programs and perpetuate and preserve the Swedish culture, customs, traditions, art, songs, dances, and language as a precious heritage for future generations.
Our civic contributions are many.
The House of Sweden annually hosts a Midsummer celebration in the park, complete with maypole, dancing, music and authentic Swedish cuisine. We are dedicated participants in San Diego's Ethnic Food Fair in May, and everyone's holiday favorite, December Nights. Every Sunday, members open the cottage and welcome visitors with coffee and delicious pastries.
Do you love Sweden, too?
