Scholarship to Sjölunden in Minnesota

Picture
In line with our mission as a non-profit organization, the House of Sweden has unanimously voted to offer a new and exciting scholarship for a Swedish Immersion Language and Cultural Program at Sjölunden - offered by Concordia College, Moorehead, Minnesota. The scholarship is available to children between the ages of 8-18, with a current family member in the House of Sweden.

The two week program is offered annually in July and August, and the participants attend camp to live and learn Swedish, divided into groups of 16-20 to each cabin. The program offers language classes as well as different activities of your choice. For example, recently Sjölunden added a sailing program for their two week sessions. You can visit their website for more information at:

Facts about the Sjölunden Scholarship:
• The scholarship will cover the full cost of the program,  however travel expenses are not included.
• To apply for the scholarship a statement of purpose is required – a short essay telling us about yourself, who you are related to in the House of Sweden, and why you would like to attend the program.
• On your return, the House of Sweden is looking forward to a short oral or written presentation of your experiences at the camp.
• The final recipient of the scholarship will be chosen by the Scholarship committee.

More information regarding next year’s summer program dates etc., will be sent out in January each year.
